Pre Diabetes and WW Core Plan
I am newly pre-diabetic and in doing some research on diets, found that the Weight Watchers old Core plan is the closest to the type of diet I need. Are there any pre-diabetic support groups here? If I joined a diabetic (as opposed to PRE-diabetic) group, I wouldn’t really understand some of their posts relating to numbers and insulin. Thanks for answering. |
Have You Tried…..
Have you tried the Montel Williams Health Master Blender? My sister had a VitaMix and it did all the things that the Health Master says that it will do. I checked on how much those Vitamixes are now and they are $350-$400. It was one big sucker, too. It never fit under the cabinets but I have a spot that even a tall blender could go. I’d love to know if the Health Master is good. I’d also love to see the printed material that comes with it, including Montel’s book. It is all that it is cracked up to be. We need help in being more healthy without it being torture…. Advice, anyone???????? |

Citrus Bars
Recently I came across this recipe at a recipe website. I modified the recipe a bit. These bars were very good! When making the crust, I did add a bit more flour (1/4 cup) and I’m glad I did. It made for a slightly thick crust, which I prefer. I also added a bit more lemon zest. I actually added the zest from 5 medium size lemons. Citrus Bars
_____________________ 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar 1 cup butter Topping:
4 eggs, beaten 2 cups granulated sugar 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice 3 tablespoons orange juice 1 teaspoon lemon zest 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder confectioners’ sugar (for sprinkling ontop the bars) To make the crust:
In a bowl combine together, the flour and confectioners’ sugar. Cut in butter; mix until mixture becomes crumbly and clings together. Press crust mixture into a 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Place baking pan in a preheated 350 degree oven. Bake the crust for about 25 minutes, or until lightly browned. In another bowl beat together, the eggs, sugar, lemon juice,
orange juice, and lemon zest. Stir in the 1/4 cup flour and baking powder, mixing well.
Pour topping mixture over the baked crust. Place pan in the oven, and bake for an additional 25 minutes. After removing the pan from the oven, let bars cool slightly.
Sprinkle bars with the confectioners’ sugar while their slightly warm.
Cut the bars when they’ve cooled down a bit more. (I had cut mine while they were slightly warm.) Yields: 24 bars
